Kulim Welfare Department officer Rohana Mohd Yusuf said the area was affected by strong winds and heavy rain at about 12.30pm, resulting in roofs of houses blown away while causing damages to other parts of the houses. However, there were no casualties. Yusuf Kasim, 59, a retiree whose house roof was flown away while he and his wife were resting in the porch, had to use plastic sheets to replace the roof temporarily. "We were resting when it started raining heavily and the wind was so strong that our roof started flying. The roof above our kitchen and hall was blown off, leaving rain water to gush through," he said. Loses were estimated in the region of RM200,000.

1)Typhoon CHABA (16W,22.0N 127.8E,100kts) : เมื่อเวลา 13.00น.วันนี้(27ต.ค.2553) ไต้ฝุ่น CHABA (ชบา/16W) ระดับ 2 ซึ่งมีศูนย์กลางปกคลุมทะเลจีนตะวันออก ล่าสุดได้ทวีกำลังเป็น ไต้ฝุ่น ระดับ 3 แล้ว อยู่ที่ละติจูด 22.0องศาเหนือ ลองจิจูด 127.8 องศาตะวันออก หรือมีศูนย์กลางอยู่ทางทิศใต้จากเมืองคาเดนา เกาะโอกินาวา ประเทศญี่ปุ่น ห่ างประมาณ 510 กิโลเมตร. กำลังเคลื่อนตัวไปทางทิศตะวันตกเฉียงเหนือด้วยความเร็ว 8 นอต(15 กิโลเมตรต่อชั่วโมง) เมื่อ 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา . มีความเร็วลมสูงสุดใกล้ศูนย์กลางประมาณ 100 นอต(185 กิโลเมตรต่อชั่วโมง) ลมกระโชกแรงสูงสุดประมาณ 125นอต(232 กิโลเมตรต่อชั่วโมง) ความกดอากาศที่พื้นผิวน้ำทะเลประมาณ 948 มิลลิบาร์ คลื่นทะเลสูงสุดประมาณ 7 เมตรในช่วง 6 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา.... / คาด ไต้ฝุ่น CHABA (ชบา/16W) ระดับ 3 จะมีทิศทางเคลื่อนตัวไปทางทิศเหนือต่อในอีก 12-24 ชั่วโมงข้างหน้า คาดว่าจะเบี่ยงตัวไปทางเหนือค่อนตะวันออกมากขึ้น ในอีก 36-48 ชั่วโมงข้างหน้า ก่อนที่จะมุ่งหน้าไปยังทางตอนใต้ของประเทศญี่ปุ่นในอีก 72 ชั่วโมงข้างหน้าหรือ ในช่วง ประมาณ 30 ต.ค.53 : ประกาศศูนย์ร่วมการเตือนภัยไต้ฝุ่น (Joint Typhoon Warning Center หรือ JTWC )
